Schiano to Speak at Hall of Fame Banquet
Honoring Central Pa. High School Student-Athletes
Former Penn State Assistant Coach and Current Rutgers Coach to Speak at March 28 Event
STATE COLLEGE, Pa., February 21, 2010 -- Greg Schiano, head football coach at Rutgers University, will be the featured speaker on March 28th at the 13th annual banquet honoring the athletic and academic achievements of high school football players in Central Pennsylvania.
The annual banquet is sponsored by the Central Pennsylvania Chapter of the National Football Foundation and College Football Hall of Fame. This year's event is set for 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 28 at the Penn Stater on the University campus, with doors opening a 12:45 p.m. Forty-two scholastic student-athletes and seven collegiate athletes will be honored at the banquet, with at least ten student-athletes receiving a $1,000.00 scholarship towards their college education.
Since initiating the awards banquet in 1997-98, the Central Pennsylvania Chapter has given out $117,000 in scholarship money while honoring more than 400 deserving student-athletes from certain high schools located in the following area counties: Bedford, Blair, Cambria, Cameron, Centre, Clarion, Clearfield, Clinton, Elk, Huntingdon, Jefferson, Juniata, Lycoming, and Mifflin counties.
